The current Lingo is highly recommended, but if on a budget the Mose/Hercules available on eBay is a good option and similar to the Vahallha power supply.

I'd recommend the Achromat.Ī power supply upgrade should be high on your list. I have successfully used a Ring Mat, Achromat and Herbie's Way Excellent Mat. The felt mat is reknown for capturing dirt and transferring it to your records. Regarding the platter mat I'd ditch the felt mat as it is a dust and dirt magnet. I do not recommend a record weight on a Linn. Regarding record weights the Linn Sondek was not designed to accomodate additional weight on the platter. Along with a suspension adjustment you will probably need new springs and grommets. I'd also recommend a turntable suspension tune-up and checking the tonearm with a Linn dealer. That said I agree with others recommending upgrading to the Cirkus bearing if not currently installed. Knowing your budget for upgrades as well as what tonearm and cartridge the turntable is fitted with would be beneficial in providing advice. I'd agree that consulting a local Linn dealer should be a priority. RE: Questions for Linnie's, posted on Maat 16:28:51 You didn't say what arm and cable was already in place. If you upgrade to any Linn arm it will come with a decent cable included. Linn Silver TA cable - I would have this last on my list. You may also need or want to consider replacing the subchassis if the table has the older welded versus bonded steel chassis.

Without the Trampolin 2, a heavy platform or stand will suck the life out of the playback.Ĭirkus mechanical upgrade - This should be the first upgrade as it is the foundation of the entire table. Trampolin suspension - As Linn upgrades cost go this is not too expensive and if you don't have a light and rigid platform to place the turntable on will give you flexibility in placing the turntable. I would consider this a fundamental upgrade after upgrading to the Cirkus bearing. It will cost more then what was paid for the entire turntable but it is a game changer as far as sound improvement. This gets close to the quality of the Radikal but at a much lower price point. Linn released the Lingo 4 in early 2018 that used trickle down technology from the Radikal include a speed sensor. Lyra Clavis L/O - I use a Linn cartridge so can't comment. Linn recently released a Jelco based arm that is in place of a Project arm they used to sell as an entry point, so I would look into that. Goldmund Relief Mat and Weight - I would not use a weight of any type with a Linn as it messes with the suspension.Īkito TA - The latest version of the Akito is a decent arrm but overpriced. Is that the spec of his Linn or upgrade he wants to do?., posted on Maat 13:18:33įirst would be to find a Linn dealer with proper experience to setup the table. Herbie's Way Excellent Turntable Mat is a better answer than the Goldman IMO, and I would NEVER use a record weight on my LP12. It would be dead last on my upgrade list. Lingo is a huge improvement over the Valhalla, but unless he's willing to move all they way up to the Radikal, he'd be better off looking at one of the 3rd party DC motor and controller setups like the Hercules. The beefier bearing translates immediately into better bass performance and lowered noise floor. It is one of those foundational improvements which allows every other change to gives its best. I've not heard Linn cart I can say I really liked since the Troika, so have nothing say on that account, but have personal experience with a few others on you shopping list.Ĭirkus bearing is the biggest bang for the buck upgrade they offer. RE: Questions for Linnie's, posted on Maat 10:19:24 Is that the spec of his Linn or upgrade he wants to do?. I wanted to use my ARO tone arm cable with EKOS SE.

I'm a SOTA/SME type myself, so I haven't kept up with the Linn Stuff. Can anyone fill me in on the following items: I told him it was a great deal, but I couldn't answer his questions about upgrades. A friend recently got a Linn Sondek for $1200.
